I am not saying that Mark Zuckerberg is a trusting soul.

I do believe that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is either misinformed about that fact-checking request, or she’s just simplifying that story and what happened in 2016.

In the first scenario, I’m terrified that politicians ignore the power of social media and how it works. In the second one, I think that it would translate in her trying to please the people by saying things that are false. Which is what she’s accusing the other parties of doing.

I do also believe that the question is worth asking: Facebook is a media company that has just way too many clients to control. Who’s fault is it though? The people posting these ads, or the media company for hosting them? Plus, if the outcome of these elections did happen because of the use of fake news and therefore, dishonesty and cheating, why isn’t there a black & white response of making them happen again?

That shortcut that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is doing is extremely harmful to the global situation, period. She’s asking questions that aren’t accurate enough to be in her right to expect a ‘yes or no’ answer.
